No idea why it comes up on Google as ‘chauffeur service’. It’s not, it’s a Volvo independent specialist, and a very good one at that.

They did a good and fast job for a fair price, the only downside is the location, it is not that easy to get there

Excellent, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Spoke to Graham on Saturday about the car, did a video walk round with Charlie on Monday, paid a deposit and was told that the car would be delivered on the Friday to me in Ayrshire. Sure enough Friday lunchtime the car arrived, serviced, prepped and as promised, I was not disappointed. Graham, Charlie and the team do a fantastic job.

Genuinely outstanding customer service.

As someone who used to work in a business that had 5000 customers a month I completely understand that statistically there will always be the rare job with a tiny mishap that shouldn’t represent the other 99% of competence. I was unfortunately that 1% statistic however where a tiny pinched seal allowed my auto gearbox to slowly lose fluid and my gearbox stopped working 4 days after its service.

The real mark of a business is how they deal with problems and genuinely everyone I’ve told this story to has been in shock at how well Horton Cars immediately looked after me.

The owner on the phone immediately said (without me remotely pointing a finger) “There’s no smoke without fire, we know it’ll have been us and we’ll get it sorted straight away” and sincere apologies alongside. But given that I live 135 miles away I was amazed at the dedication to getting my car towed to and from them and the fact they returned my fixed car free of charge the day after taking delivery of it.

Honest, kind and super-knowledgeable, I wouldn’t let this understandable mistake stop me from recommending this garage. For reference, I live 2 miles from a Volvo specialist and despite them also being kind and honest, their insanely poor organisation has put me off using them again (Me waiting over 5 hours for an MOT I’d booked 2 months in advance and a service where they spent £1200 of my money without approval despite me asking 5x what it’d cost first)… Oh and they told me to stick to the Volvo ‘sealed for life’ plan of doing nothing for my gearbox, which everyone else accepts is a really bad idea.

So yes, thank you, Horton!

XC70 D5 Auto with gearbox clunking. Oil flushed and changed along with software reloaded with current version. Loan car given and spent a lovely couple of hours up the road in Long Crendon. I travelled 90 minutes to go to Hortons as locally nobody was really knowledgeable enough to diagnose the issue except changing the whole unit!!! Volvo say No oil change required . Thank you all for sorting this out and car is driving really well again.

I travelled up from Sevenoaks based on the strength of reviews and feedback and I wasn’t disappointed, the staff were excellent and the service exemplary… 2005 XC70 D5 that needed a service, timing belt and water pump + auxiliary belt, new coolant, gearbox flush, filters, MOT + a couple of small items…. all done in a day, car drives like new and I had the use of curtesy car whilst my car was in with the team – many thanks Graham and team and will be making the pilgrimage again in due course.

My wife and I needed a new car. Had to be an automatic for various reasons. The service we have received from start to end, faultless. Many main dealers could learn a thing or two from Graham and his staff.

Graham (owner) is very friendly and accommodating. And although on this visit we didn’t purchase a vehicle (we have a specific one in mind!) there was no pressure to buy an alternative. I would recommend checking out his website and is well worth a visit but ring first.

If you are looking for a decent Volvo specialist, then this is were you need to go, Graham and the team will assist you, been going here for a while and can’t fault them, prices are a bit dear but quality of work is fantastic, still cheaper than main stealer, meant dealer. I visited Horton Cars for a gearbox service after Volvo quoted me a four figure sum for a new transmission. My 2015 Volvo XC70 is now driving like new again following their gearbox service – the team at Horton Cars are very knowledgeable and it was well worth my three hour journey to visit them! Highly recommended.

Had gearbox fluid change and haldex service done for my 2016 XC90 T6. Only Volvo specialist that appreciated that these are maintenance items not not sealed for life as Volvo suggests. Travelled from London to get this work done by Horton cars. Work completed promptly, to the correct spec and at a very competitive price. I plan to bring the car back again for future work despite the travel.

Been to a few Volvo dealers with a vibration issue. Hortons were the ones to sort it out. They worked with insurers to resolve the issues and now it is much better.

Graham and his team have been very professional and accommodating with my purchase of an XC90.
To date their after care has been superb, they have lived up to their promise of looking after the customer.
My initial test drive was unhurried, they gave me the keys and off I went for over an hour. No pressure, answered all my questions and gave evidence that they know alot about Volvo’s and their aftercare.

So first impressions were great, I gave 2 days notice of travelling up from Bournemouth to buy a Volvo V40, provided it was as advertised. In those 2 days I was promised a new MOT and full service would be completed so I can drive it away on the day. Honestly, the best garage I have ever dealt with. My car had a serious issue that 3 other garages including Volvo themselves could not find, I live on the Isle of Wight and miraculously found Graham and his team. They went the extra mile (literally Graham did a 4 hour round trip) to find the issue, something that they had not come accross before, and managed to rectify it and keep my updated along the whole way. Although it is big distance, it was worth every penny and I feel like I have found a reliable garage that I can use for life! Thank you Graham, Ivan and Charlie for all your help. You saved my car!

Graham and staff really welcoming and knowledgeable, attention to detail in a professional manner, my new/old Volvo V70 D5 drives like a dream, and I will be taking it back yearly for its Mot and service, even though there are closer and cheaper options near me in Oxford.

Took my 2012 XC60 D5 AWD to Horton Cars after having issues with the automatic gearbox jerking and juddering in gear at around 40mph. The original supplying Volvo specialist, and the local main dealer had both been unsuccessful in fixing the problem long term. After doing a lot of research I decided it was worth the long journey for me to see if they could sort it out. A quick test drive with Graham on a local route had the torque converter confirmed as being the cause. It’s quite a substantial job involving dropping the entire subframe, and removing the gearbox to fix. Despite this the price charged was very reasonable, and sure enough the replacement torque converter resolved the original issue. They even found & rectified another issue with the intercooler pipe I was unaware of! Unfortunately I had a slight weep from one of the seals on the gearbox after the work, but Graham & his team dealt with this quickly and at no additional cost – absolutely superb service! It’s obvious speaking to Graham and his team that they are proper enthusiasts, with a great depth of knowledge about the vehicles they are working on. If you have any transmission issues with your Volvo I’d highly recommend getting in touch with them. Well worth the 200+ mile round trip for me & I will certainly be making use of them again in the future!

Bought a volvo v70 from graham.very pleasant to deal with.just as the warranty expired i had a bit of a problem .it got sorted very quickly and very efficiently.
I guess its inevitable that something goes wrong sooner or later but if you judge a company on how they deal with it then they score 11 out of 10.

Horton Cars were recommended to me when we bought our first Volvo, a couple of years ago. Graham and the team offer friendly, professional and knowledgeable service and really put you at ease. The availability of courtesy cars makes it easy fit a visit to the garage in to busy schedules and, if needed, they’ll call you to discuss anything unexpected, so you don’t get any nasty surprises when you return! All in all, first class service and great value.

Brilliant service and very knowledgeable. I pitched up at 9am Monday morning un-announced with transmission fault codes galore on my trusty volvo C70 whilst in the area on a family holiday. Service light even came on for extra stress on the way to the garage, and certainly wasn’t the ending to our long weekend in Oxford I had hoped for! Also we were due to return home towing a caravan the following day so pressure was on to get it fixed asap.
Anyway Graham and his team sent us off in a complimentary courtesy car for the day whilst he and his friendly team sorted out a full service, a new gator on one axle, reset all the fault codes, flushed and refilled the transmission fluid in the auto box, and even identified the source of a long term niggle I’d had with the roof mechanism! By the time we’d got back at tea time, everything was sorted as far as possible leaving only one problem to sort after my return home (which needed a part he couldn’t source at such short notice). But he did give me full details of what that problem was, and which part I needed to order ready for when i got home.
Certainly made the prospect of my return 150 mile journey much more assured and car runs better than ever. He really knows what he’s talking about when it comes to volvos and at a price that won’t make your eyes water. I only wish we lived locally as good mechanics are hard to find. Absolute gentlemen. Top bloke.
